Cupressocyparis leylandii , in het nederlands leylandcipres genaamd, is een grote en snelgroeiende wintergroene conifeer met een hoog opgaande zuilvormige habitus en lichtgroene tot grijsgroene schubvormige bladeren. Cypressocyparis leylandii houdt van een standplaats in de volle zon of halfschaduw en verlangt een goed doorlaatbare bodem. Als haagplant zal hij diverse malen per jaar gesnoeid dienen te worden.
