Prunus laurocerasus genolia, ook wel laurierkers genoemd is een middelgrote wintergroene sierstruik met een compacte, smal opgaande vorm die om deze reden perfect als haagplant gebruikt kan worden. Hij bloeit in het voorjaar met kleine witte bloemtrosjes en heeft smalle, ovale en langwerpige donkergroene bladeren. Hij houdt van een standplaats in de halfschaduw en doet het goed in vrijwel iedere grondsoort, is goed winterhard en produceert in de herfst niet eetbare vruchten.
