Ligustrum ovalifolium 'Aureum', ook wel geelbonte grootbladige liguster genoemd is een middelgrote halfwintergroene struik met een dichtopgaande groeivorm. De bladeren zijn groen met een gele rand . In juli en augustus bloeit deze japanse liguster met witte tot ivoorkleurige geurende bloemen in pluimvorm, daarna in de herfst gevolgd door kleine blauwzwarte besjes waar de vogels op verlekkerd zijn.
