Cornus kousa, 'satomi', is a medium-sized deciduous shrub that flowers in May and June with a sea of pale green miniature flowers surrounded by large pinkish-red bracts. The leaves are shiny, pointed oval and green in spring and summer, turning a beautiful golden red to purplish-red in autumn. Very beautiful solitary, hardy, if protected against cold winds.
